How it works
- Say a name into the microphone, or upload a short recording.
- The app listens to the voice: its pitch, rhythm and loudness, the syllables, and hissing sounds like s, sh and ch.
- From that it draws a rosette. Every syllable becomes a ring, the pitch of the voice sets the number of petals and the colours, and the hissing sounds become spikes.
- Choose a sound — Piano, Salon (piano, harp, cello) or Film (horn, piano, harp, cello) — and a reading: Classic or Complex.
- Press Play. A needle reads the rosette as it turns, like a music box: where a line crosses the needle, a note sounds.
Why it's unique
The melody is not picked from a library. It is read straight from the drawing, and the drawing comes straight from your voice. Every ring, petal, dot and spike in the rosette has an audible trace in the music.
Classic reads the outline of the petals as the disc turns. Complex sends the needle from the centre to the edge, lets the dots and spikes set the rhythm, and reads a different line in every phrase. Two people saying the same name get two different rosettes, and two different pieces of music.
